The Girlfriend Experience

Posted By jss on May 22, 2009

I guess I’ll have to go see the movie … though if I really wanted to find out what it’s like to be a paid girlfriend, I could probably find some to talk to. I’m a journalist and this is the Internet. How hard could it be?

Most of my relationships have involved rough financial parity, though I’m not remotely ashamed to admit that I have been referred to as arm candy once or twice. Have I been guilty of providing “The Boyfriend Experience”? There’s always been an emotional attachment of some kind. Cash has never changed hands on a quid pro quo basis. So … No. Probably not.

Or maybe so.

If you have a relationship or relationships that provide for you materially in some way, and you’re not in love … or not in love any more … does the fact that you provide your company in return, and not much else, make you … well, what does it make you, other than what and who you are?

We all know what we are … and we’re just haggling about the price, to paraphrase Churchill.

Drum solos give me a headache, so I picked the preview that doesn’t have one.

  1. This movie SUCKED! Made escorting look DULL. Reverse Cowgirl loved it, tho.

I went to a whore party the other night – a mixer for whores and johns. It was interesting. I wish I could blog about it, but I can’t say what I really felt about it – that it was a step up from a strip club, and a wannabe Playboy Mansion in the midwest. Depressing.

    And you didn’t invite me?!

Oh, I know, I’m too far away. But I’m putting St. Louis on the itinerary for the cross-country sex research drive.

You've Been Tempted.

Shadowy "Into Temptation" is a usually-but-not-always safe-for-work forum about evolving social-sexual networks and how they have changed and are changing lives. It will also loosely chronicle the research, writing and publication, I hope in 2010, of a book by the same name.
