Annual LifeStyle Convention Canceled

Posted By on May 23, 2009

There are a lot of big Lifestyle gatherings in the United States and around the world — “Lifestyle” being code for swingers — but historically the most important one has been the one run by the Lifestyle Organization for 34 years, in association with the North American Swing Club Association. The 35th bash had been scheduled for Aug. 5-9 in Las Vegas, but it’s canceled due to the economy, according to organizers.

Which is a shame, because the event has a long and colorful history. I’ve read a lot about it but never had a chance to go (I’ve never been to Vegas, even, if you can believe that.) Event organizers say they’ll be back in 2010 or 2011.

I’d take this as a sign that swinging was on the wane except that NASCA has perhaps been victimized by its own success in promoting and defending the lifestyle. There are swinger parties and conventions going on all the time, all over the place. No one has to wait for once-a-year events and fly to Vegas.

  1. We had not yet heard about this, so thanks for letting us know. This might explain why the LSO hadn’t contacted us this year about working the convention. We will definitely give them a call to see how the staff is handling this.

    Hiya Greg,

Too bad, eh? Let me know what you hear. Is Robert McGinley still involved?

  3. Mr. McGinley did step away from the day-to-day operations for a couple of years, but he eventually came back. However, we’ve been a little out of touch with the LSO since the last convention in 2007, so things may have changed since then.

  4. The lifestyle is definitely going strong!

You've Been Tempted.

Shadowy "Into Temptation" has been a forum about evolving social-sexual networks and how they have changed and are changing lives. In other words, we talk about dating and sex.

The original intention was that this blog would also chronicle a book project on the same subject; but that is in flux, on hiatus, perhaps meant for another time.
