Writing about Sex? You’re Fired.
Posted By Jeff on May 13, 2010
I first became acquainted with the woman known as The Beautiful Kind a couple of years ago when I ran across her sex blog and was greatly amused, in particular, by her “Ask the Slut” advice column. She struck me as a rare talent right away — not so much for her sexual exploits and experiences as for her literary voice. Raw, unfiltered, unfocused, unpolished … yes, all of those things. But also powerful, brave, funny and full of potential. “With the right editor, she could write a great book,” I remember thinking. “That is, if she’ll listen.”
And I still think she will, someday, if she wants to. But she has her hands full right now, what with being fired from her day job because her boss found out about her blog, on which she did not use her real name.
It’s all over the news but I think the best perspective comes directly from TBK. She writes about it today for Sexis:
I Got Fired for Writing About Sex
You’ll read this and think:
- She should be very angry
- She should tell everyone the name of the non-profit company that fired her.
- She should sue her former employer for everything they’ve got.
And you will note that she’s not doing any of those things, at least not yet.
Why?
Because, you’ll be able to tell, she’s a nice person who doesn’t want to do any of that.
Also — because she’s smart enough that she wants to think this through. What happened to her scared her.
It scares me, too.
And it should scare you.
"Into Temptation" has been a forum about evolving social-sexual networks and how they have changed and are changing lives. In other words, we talk about dating and sex.

Dang! I didn’t know you wrote about me. Thanks for the kind words! I do strive to be The Beautiful Kind, after all. It wouldn’t be beautiful OR kind to be vindictive. But man did I get screwed!
